Project Details
The owner, Tom Zehnder, desired to build an animal clinic and boarding facility that was within a required project budget. The site is a rural setting just outside the town of Hood Franklin.
The project consists of two separate buildings: Clinic and Boarding Facilities, that open to a common entry plaza. The “barn characteristic” was chosen for both response to site context, and to meet the owner’s “firm project costs”.
Completed the summer of 2008, the facility provides 15,400 SF of offices, surgery rooms, exam
rooms, kennels, and interior exercise areas.
Interior materials selected for both low maintenance and high durability include:
- Tile Floors in Public Areas
- Metal Reception Counter Surfaces
- Vinyl Window Frames
- Pressed Metal Door Frames
- Fiberglass Doors
- Stainless Steel Corner Guards
- Epoxy Coated Concrete Floors with
- Cement Board Wainscot Walls in Dog Kennels and Exercise Areas
- High Performance Sheet Flooring in Exam Rooms, Treatment, Surgery, Office Areas and Hallways
- Epoxy Paints in High Maintenance Areas
